“I am Bobcat. I am Catwoman!” says the 24-year-old Pop, R&B, & Hip-hop independent music performance artist from Toronto, Canada. Dixon is known for eccentric performances and music that she choreographs, produces and performs her own music as one woman shows in the state of Florida. It was in the city of Orlando, Florida where Dixon began making her wild dreams of becoming a pioneer of a new fashion and style of music a reality. “I performed at many open mics and featured in art shows in the cities of Orlando, Tampa, and West Palm Beach. I was garnering a lot of attention from the LGBT community that led me to feature at many shows across the state. I feel a lot of love when I perform in the south.”
When listening to Munro’s sounds it is easy to hear the soul and performances of inspirations of the great Amy Winehouse, Madonna and Annie Lennox in her voice and productions. She is a strong contralto who enjoys manipulating her vocals electronically in her music productions. Her latest projects have including creating, producing and releasing a mixtape a month to document her journey of life and allow viewers and listeners a more personal insight in who she is as an artist. However, Dixon Munro’s passions lay within her live performances. As a trained acrobat/contortionist and lover of DIY fashion design, burlesque and theatrics Dixon’s main focus is fusing her music into magical performance art for live performances and interactive videos. This includes her performing in contorted positions, dancing and singing around a ring of fire and subtle a cappella seated performances.
In addition to creating, recording, and performing her music, Dixon is an advocate of MS awareness after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2012. “Fuck MS” Dixon Munro strongly says. “MS is just another motivating factor to live my life doing exactly what makes me happy… creating” Dixon Munro believes that every creation is a dedication to find a cure. Dixon Munro’s next project includes completing her first EP due for November 20th 2013 and tour during the last quarter of the year bringing her one-woman show to her home the city of Toronto, Ontario.
